New Years News
With nearly forty people turning out for the Annual General Meeting in January, the year got off to a flying start. With a little juggling we managed to cram ourselves into the small room at the Village Hall. We welcomed several new members as well as saying goodbye to some old friends who could no longer continue their membership. We also welcomed three new members joining the Committee, Dave, Jean and Heather.
Heather gave an excellent report on her initial research into Wolfage Manor. Les talked us through the results to date from the Industrial Archaeology group. John outlined the great programme for the rest of the year and assured us that he had got the date of the Christmas Party correct this year.
The Summer outing this year is to Lacock Abbey, Village and the Fox Talbot Museum. William Henry Fox Talbot one of the greatest figures of the 19th C. became known as the Father of Modern Photography. As if that wasn’t enough on our way back we plan to visit the Steam Museum at Swindon which just happens to be next door to the McArthurGlen Great Western Designer Outlet, the largest undercover Outlet Shopping Centre in Europe. The price of the trip will be the same as last year at £15. Admission to Lacock Abbey is free to National Trust members. This year we are inviting our friends from Spratton History Society to join us.
