Information Wanted

Filed under: General — Dennis Coles @ 18:12

Currently members of the society are working on several projects. If you have any information about any of them we would love to hear from you.

1. The various Ironstone Quarries around Brixworth were worked for almost a hundred years until just after WWII. We would be particularly interested in any photos maps or the recollections of people working there.

2. The George Inn is one of the oldest in the village. It has recently been modernised and previously the Brewers Charles Wells had done considerable alterations in the 1970’s. We would be pleased to see details such as drawings or photographs from prior to this period.

3.Wolfage Manor lies to the west of the village sloping down the river valley south of the Spratton Road. Considerable building remains are still visable as mounds covered in earth and the site of the three medieval fishponds can be seen when walking the field.
We would be interested in any information about this site and its occupants as records in the Northampton Records Office have considerable gaps.
