Adding to the History Society Archives.
We have had many of our old photographs and paper archives scanned to disc and catalogued.
We are always seeking to increase the amount of archived material we hold.
If you have any photographs or other material related to Brixworth, its buildings, people or events, that you are willing to share with us please contact our archivist. We will would be happy to receive either digital or hard copies and will return any hard copies to you.
Recently Completed Projects
Oral History Project
We took part in the Village Voices project which was led by Northamptonshire ACRE. Subsequently we have interviewed many more of our villagers and have built up a good picture of life in the village from the early part of the 20th century.
Publications
The Pictoral History of Brixworth 2nd Edition was completed in December 2012.
Pub landlord Survey.
At one stage Brixworth had 11 pubs. Research has been undertaken to find out where they all were and who the landlords were.
Metal Detecting
In 2012, following the purchase of metal detecting equipment, a group was set up to search the land in and around Brixworth. However, as a result of the geological make up of the village we mainly found lots of ironstone.
Memories of The Great War
Our 2014 exhibition featured Brixworth in 1914 for which we investigated information about those from the village who served in the forces during the First World War.
The men whose names are on the war memorial in the churchyard were researched and a picture built up of where they lived and worked and their family connections
